I know you’re wondering if it’s worth putting your name down on my email list. I can imagine that daily you’re bombarded with tons of personal, professional and advertising emails, all vying for your attention. You’re busy and trying to accomplish all the things. So I don’t take it lightly that you’re considering adding me to the mix.

A little about me: My name is Sumi X and I’m a recording artist living in LA. Glamorous, right?

Well, it almost didn’t happen.

You see, in my former life, I founded, ran and scaled an Inc. 500 company. By most standards, I had it all — a blossoming career, corner office, adoring family and friends and more.

But I had a secret dream. I wanted to be a singer.

Here’s the thing about secrets and dreams: it’s easy to pretend. To ignore. But eventually they keep you up at night with a gnawing sense that something isn’t right. That there’s something more.

I knew I had to act.

So, in 2019, I sold my company and set off to Nashville to pursue my dream. It was great … until it wasn’t. Why? This was literally right before the pandemic rocked our collective world.

It would have been easy to give up and say, “Oh, now’s not the right time.” Oftentimes, on the path to fulfilling our dreams, we have many moments like this - where the temptation to give up is great.

We always have a decision to make — do we keep going or give up?

In that moment, I chose to keep going. Every single day, I choose to keep going. Because I’m being led by my dreams, instead of fear.

The same goes for you.
